Here are a few of my Favorite things.

Favorite Books

Jack Kerouac
"Dharma Bums"
As someone who likes the outdoors and has always dreamed of traveling across the world with no destination in mind this book was an enjoyable read. Also the philosophical ideas contained in Kerouac's books are intriguing. All of the books that I have read by him are enjoyable.

Richard Russo
"Straight Man"
If you want to laugh hysterically before you get to page 5 of a book I would suggest reading this. I have never laughed so hard in my life. It is the story of about a month of a college professor's life while in a Pennsylvanian college. If you like to laugh pick it up and begin reading!

Mary Jane Auch
"Ashes of Roses"
This is the social studies teacher in me. This is an excellent book about the Triangle Waist Coat Company Fire. It tells the story of a young immigrant girl and her trials in the sweatshops of New York City. This fire is a significant event in United States history, not just for labor laws, but also a lot of public safety laws also.

Favorite Albums

Bob Dylan
Any Album New or Old
Having played an instrument since I was 5 years old until the end of college I have a great respect for someone like Bob Dylan who writes songs that all genres of musicians emulate. Though Dylan may not be the greatest vocalist in the world the music he has written is beautiful whether it is political or just rambling. One of the best albums that I could listen to for ever is "Blood on the Tracks" of course Dylan's "Greatest Hits Volume 1 and 2" is a great album for those people that might not be a huge fan.

The Grateful Dead
"Skeletons From the Closet" and "Playin' Acoustic"
These two albums are my favorite Dead albums for a couple of reasons. "The Skeletons from the Closet" album was the first Dead album that I bought and when I bought it the thing that appealed to me was that it wasn't filled with long Jam sessions, though I have come to appreciate those lengthy jams today. The "Playin' Acoustic" album I purchased while enjoying a few months in Newport News Virginia. I stumbled on a used record store in this little shopping plaza and would spend about an hour a week perusing their selection of albums.

KEXP Live 90.3 FM, Seattle
I know this isn't a album, but I have bought a few albums after hearing some great stuff on this station. You can access it through this link, or listen to it through iTunes©.

90.5 FM WBER Rochester, New York
Also check out WBER which is the local alternative station here in Rochester. You can listen to it the same way as you would KEXP.

I know this is a bit geeky, but I think that either sites are great in what they provided or how they provide it.
